First of all, if you are one of my few followers, but one of my many friends with a birthday today then...HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!
How are all of you?! How was the 4th?! Mine was pretty swell. Pool by day, cantina for more drinks by evening and rooftop firework displays by night!! It was really neat up on the roof to see fireworks from ALL OVER the LA area even as far as the ocean city's displays. Can't hardly complain!!
Some of you know I will be venturing back to MO in T-13 days!! I fly into KC on the 20th, where a dear friend is taking me most of the way back to Centralia. Then, I will be there until that Sunday (24th) and going to KC that day for a workshop the 25th and friend time til Wed the 27th. Then, I fly back here to pack up our stuff and clean the apartment and ride back with Brent. We leave Friday night the 29th. Drive to Vegas for 1 night, drive to Denver for 1 night, then drive to Cherokee (hopefully by Sunday the 31st). We'll stay there until we want to leave and then head to Centralia. After that.....not sure yet. lol
While I very much appreciate everyone wanting to keep as up to date as possible on our next location, I have no news to report on that yet. We have applied (applyed?) at a few different agencies just to keep $$ options open. lol. We are thinking PROBABLY Texas but...?? who knows where the wind will blow us?! It is still a LITTLE too early to sign a dotted line just yet, as we are taking a few weeks off. Most people that have jobs posted now want someone to start ASAP and we are taking off til 8/22. However, I will keep you all updated as we find out more.
Well, signing off for now. Love to you all and more later!!...possibly from the midwest!! :O)

4/13
It has recently been brought to my attention that one my blog has become a little...."dry"...they said. At first, I was somewhat taken aback, felt bad for my readers, as I do agree that it might be a little repetitive, but......I don't think I care. Its my blog and I'll type whatever I want.. ;) (even though I still love the person that said that dearly and know she didn't mean any negativity, just constructive criticism). But, its my days, my words, my thoughts and my blog so....sorry, sweetheart. lol
Anyway, since the end of March, life's been wonderful!! As many of you know, we have met 2 great friends here who are also travel nurses. Janie and Sara. This week, Sara's mom (or mama as they say, being from NC) are visiting and we've had the pleasure to hang out with them!! Yesterday we went to Santa Barbara....if you have come to visit and we didn't go there, I'M SO SORRY!! It was BEAUTIFUL!! It was such a neat town and they even had the farmer's market while we were there so I got lucky. For those of you that I just KNOW are planning on coming this 13 week period, were smart in waiting now that we have new adventures to take! I know thats why you were waiting to come...................................
I have decided (I think) to take some online classes and I'm really excited about that. I have also had my "training" to do some volunteer work with the Alzheimer's Association of CA here in LA and am so excited to be able to have that opportunity. It won't be much, probably just office work since I'll only be here a short time but, I did get a list of others in the US so if we go somewhere with an association near there, maybe I can do a little more work.
Probably the most exciting news I have for this blog is that Brent and I will be back in the mid-west in 9 days!!! we are going to be flying into Kansas City on 4/22. We will then go to my parent's house for the weekend and leave for Iowa the following tuesday. I'm not sure if we are staying somewhere in KC that night or going straight through...we'll see. Anyway, then, Iowa until 5/2, where Brent flys back to LA and I go to KC for a few days and then back to Centralia for some more BELOVED FAM/FRIENDS of Centralia time!! I am SO excited, I can hardly stand it!! Also, we get to see Derrick and Memoree (my aunt and uncle) this weekend in San Diego!! Leave it to them to wait until we only have 1 week until I could see them anyway to make a trip out here...;) jk. We're very excited to venture to San Diego this weekend, we've been waiting for it!!
Can't wait to hear from you/see you all soon! Peace and love to you all!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DAWN ON SAT 3/26!! She'll be 29 so, feel free to send her a happy birthday wish!! ;)
BUSY. Thats about all I have to write for this blog...you know, save you the time to read all the boring details and just let you know we have been BUSY.
Last week Dawn and Patty came to visit!!! It was great! We did our typical touristy/favorite things. No shows but who needs a show when you can go to Venice beach?! Its a show in and of itself. We got to take them to the Griffith Observatory and Patty of course got to eat her famous Pink's hot dog...though I don't get the glitz and glamour.....oh well. Thats a taste only a mother could love......;)
As most of you know I had a little too much fun on St. Patrick's day and as a result have been without a phone since. I truly believe it was stolen as I had it on minute, commenting on my friend Blake's facebook status and the next minute it wasn't in my pocket. No one turned it in at the bar (despite what I thought was a pretty hefty karmatic savings account, as Brent and I found a phone on Mardi Gras and turned it in but, oh well) and it wasn't on the floor or near the bench I had JUST been sitting at. But, thats life. In fact, I believe Patty had just told me the night before to get off the phone and stop missing out on life. lol. She said it cause I didnt' see the fox cross the road......but I guess fate decided I needed to learn the lesson the hard way, so I am. The only thing I am really upset about is the pictures I am missing from my phone (our drive out to CA in San Francisco, pictures of my niece and nephews, pictures of my mom and Calvin at the beach, the only picture I had of me meeting Luke Adams (the contestant from Amazing Race who is Deaf) and DEFINETLY ticked about losing the creeper pictures I took of Kate Flannery (Meredith from The Office) on St. Patrick's day. Lucky for picture messaging, I think I can have the people I sent the pictures to send them back to me when I get my new phone.....WHICH SHOULD BE MONDAY!! woohoooooo!!!
Ok, enough materialism.....how is everyone?! Our friends Kim and Jim are in town this week. She won a silent auction and it was for a trip out here so it worked out PERFECTLY!! Although, I feel terrible becaus the weather has been crap-py. Rain sooo much of the time. (if you are a true Carly's blog follower, you will know its free subs for all now!! Poor Subway is probably going to go out of business with all this rain. haha)
Well, peace and love and HAPPINESS to you all!! Brent and I (hopefully) will be traveling home for a short visit at the end of April. We are going to TRY to come 4/22, be in Centralia for a short time, travel up to Iowa for our cousin's wedding, then I will drop him off to fly back for work and I am planning on a day or 2 in KC and a week or so in Centralia!! Hope to see you all.
Oh..one last thing. Brent is in the process of resigning his LA contract, so it looks like we'll be here until the end of July.....all teacher friends/families, call your travel agent (ME) now!!!

3/10
Pretty sure my favorite part of living in Los Angeles is being responsible for picking up Calvin's poop EVERWHERE we go. Not really but, I'm sure its his. He is the dog with the biggest spite for me, I think. Not only does he wait to do his #2s when we are somewhere public (ie, the tar pits park in front of a homeless person, or the nice couple walking hand in hand we just passed cause he doesn't know how to walk slow, or right in the middle of the Griffith Observatory between the ring of Saturn and the ring of Uranus....true story....or on the dog beach TWICE). But, Brent and I have a great system.....we have latex gloves we carry in our pockets (I carry 2 after the beach incident) so that we can pick it up without touching it and then fold the glove inside out with the poop inside and then throw it away!
Ok..enough about that..Im just venting. Anyway, had a BLAST (from the past) with Staci this week!!! We did Venice beach, observatory, SPRINKLES, IN AND OUT BURGER, tar pits, farmer's market, and the last night she was here (also Mardi Gras) an awesome Gay Pride Mardi Gras party. (more on that later...its a whole story in an of itself.....). But, I did get to meet 2 "celebrities". Yes, I use that word VERY frivolously. One, as you may have read on my FB was Luke Adams. He was a Deaf guy that was on the Amazing Race and is actually on again this season. And the other was totally random. I knew it was election day, but I had no idea while I was at the gay bar, I was standing less than a foot away from one of the people running for City Council! So....John D'Amico. Anyway..they stopped the music every once in awhile to announce the section results and there was a HUGE uproar when he won each division. Then, when they announced the winner, I was standing RIGHT by him again. We all took a pic of him (decked out in party beads at the gay bar I might add..hehe) and he slipped me his card and told him to call him anytime. hehe. He was really nice!! Anyway, that was quite a fun Mardi Gras. I'm not giving anything up for lent, as the church I grew up with doesn't really do so but..What are you giving up?
Monday brings Dawn and Patty!! Dawn already told me she was ready for a night on the town so....we'll have to make her eat her words, I think. So excited to see them!!!! Let me guess...the next blog will be: "We went to Griffith Park, IN and OUT Burger, SPRINKLES, the beach and the Farmer's Market"...hehe. Its all of our favorite things so we HAVE to share them!!
Also, the following Wed (the 23rd) Brent and I have standby tickets for ELLEN!!!! And...Daniel doesn't want to go anymore so I actually have a 3rd if anyone wants to come see me!!
As far as what we will do next, we THINK we are going to be able to re-up here. Brent can 1 more time at Cedars Sinai so I think we will take advantage of that!! However, we might take 2 weeks to come home to visit....Centralia, KC and then Iowa. So...LOOK OUT!! Hopefully the last week of April/beginning of May we will be coming home!! WOOHOO!!!!
Misses, Kisses, and Loves to all!!!
(sorry this one was kinda lame. love you for reading!!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dear Sister!!
Well, when it rains it pours. And, it was raining here yesterday, so it pours visitors!! I am SO excited!! As you all know, my parents were her a week and a half ago. Mostly TOTALLY enjoyable (see previous blog). We ended the week with a 1 night for them-2 night for Brent and I stay in Vegas. My mom's favorite place on earth....bahahaha...I say that with the highest of uses of sarcasm. When my parents left (tear), Brent and I stayed Saturday night. It was mostly great..oh, except for when Brent disappeared for 6 hours with a dead cell phone and..if I may quote myself....To: My mom: "He better be dead, cause if he isn't, I'm going to kill him when I find him....". End quote. He wasn't dead and still isn't...he's a lucky man.....more on that some other time.
Anyway, Sunday we got to have lunch with Nathan and Tammy!! That was awesome since I haven't gotten to really talk to them let alone really see them since....mine and Brent's "wedding"..."reception/party". So, even if we have to meet halfway across the country, we still will meet!!! Then, Sunday, we headed home...on a 6 1/2 hr drive that is supposed to take 4....oh well, I couldn't complain as right before we left, I stuck $50 in my FAVORITE penny machine and cashed out with $700...thank GOD!!
Ok...back to pouring visitors. So, this Saturday, Staci Ball (awesome friend from Centralia) is coming to visit!!! She'll be here until next Wednesday! Woohoo!!! Then, the Monday following, Patty and Dawn (Brent's sister and mommy) will be here for the week. The next week, we are off (although accepting applications for visitors). The week after that, an AWESOME couple friend from KC (Jim and Kim) are coming. They aren't staying with us, as she won a trip here in an auction, but we will hopefully get some good quality time in!! The week following, (April) another awesome KC friend (Lindsay) has made a reservation at Chouteau Henkshe (Henke+Belshe=Henkshe...?????).
So, as you can see...enough e-begging (Facebook) and move to a cool/warm place will bring visitors-a-plenty!!...and I couldn't be more excited!!!!
As for Brent and I recently, we spent some of Saturday afternoon at a place called Griffith Observatory. It is an awesome look-out-over-LA place where you have a much closer and unobstructed view of the HOLLYWOOD sign as well as a BEAUTIFUL view over LA. (Sorry mom and pop, wish we would have known about it BEFORE you came...). Anyway..they have trails that go down through the (quite steep) hills. We were hiking down some. Now, try to picture this. Sicily 1931..wait, I'm not Sophia Petrillo...but do really picture this: Carly "hiking" on a downward trail. Ok..I have TERRIBLE balance when the world under my feet is perfectly horizontal. Add any degree of vertical to it and I'm SCREWED!! I have bad feet, I don't like incline (or decline) and I wasn't really loving this. Anyway, we are going down hill down the side of these steep cliffs. The path, I will admit, wasn't bad....almost enjoyable until...it ended. So, Brent (my genius husband) decides we will hike STRAIGHT UP not on a trail back to where we came from. After all, shortest route, right? Now....I'm all for the shortest route but funny how shortest route is STRAIGHT UP!! So, on no trail, with nothing to hold onto Brent (who has Cal Pal by the way) basically runs straight up it no problem. He is better with the not holding onto something than me. I on the other hand, was taking it slower, kept slipping in the mud, angry at nothing to hold onto, sweating in my fleece jacket (as it wasn't as cold as I thought outside).....FINALLY we reach the top of the hill we were "hiking" up....only to find the restaurant we had to go through was fenced in. So here we are a mere 2 inches from people overlooking the cliff, only we are on the wrong side of this damn fence.....its about 5' tall. I'm a tall glass of water coming in at 5' 9.5" but, its hard to fenegel over a fence that tall. So, we should just go around, right? WRONG. The "around" route is right over the edge of the cliff. A basic dropoff!! lol. I felt just like Lucille Ball in any I Love Lucy episode!! Hysterical. Probably my favorite part was that people got to watch me "hike" this damn cliff!!! Oh...what a fun day it was. Anyway...we ended up finding a taller place of ground so the fence was a little shorter and I hoisted Calvin to Brent and we got the hell outta there!! lol.. People at the outside tables and chairs kept asking me where we came from!! HAHA!!
And, we went to the Price is Right and didn't get called on...Thats all I care to say about that. lol
Anyway..sorry this one was a drone on but, I figured I hadn't typed in a while so I could go on and on and on and on...and on.
More later!! Love and kisses to you all!
Oh...ps...I've started watching Pushing Daisies and I HIGHLY recommend it...if you possess the ability to watch it from the beginning and to truly sit and watch it. Its cute, quirky, and very aesthetically pleasing!!
PPS. In case I don't get back on too soon...3/1 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Lydia! I love you!!
3/2 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MUMMY AND DAD!! I love you so so so much!!!
3/8 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Daniel!..I'll see ya
3/9 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Staci...you'll be here!!!

2/17
Apparently, I have been neglecting my blogging responsibilities....or so I've been told. I certainly apologize and you can be sure it has been with good reason. I have been busy. No, still not working....don't jump to conclusions...just busy with friends and visitors!! yup....I said friends!!! WE HAVE FRIENDS HERE!! Our 2 friends live here in the same apartment complex and our balconies are adjacent. They are also travel nurses and are working for the same company Brent is with and at the same hospital!! So, needless to say, we all have a lot in common!! One of the really great things about having friends here is that they are so nice and willing to take care of your dog for the weekend which means you and your husband can run off to Vegas for the weekend!!! Fun, huh?! They have dogs, too so we will be able to return the favor, I hope!!
Next week, Brent, Daniel, one other unknown person and I are going to the Price is Right!!! We are STOKED!! Be thinking positive thoughts of some plinko coming my way!! Its next Wednesday so who knows when the show will air. WOOT WOOT!!
My parents have been here this week (reason 2 I've neglected my blog, I think). We have had a great time!! The retirement life allowed them to decide on Tuesday they wanted to drive out last Thursday. They arrived Sunday and are coming to Vegas for the night with us Friday, then headed the scenic route home by Wednesday. We have gone to Sprinkles (the most amazing cupcake place ever), Venice beach, Malibu, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hollywood Blvd, and I'm HOPING for Huntington Beach tomorrow. I say HOPING because they (naturally) brought rain with them to LA!! :( And, I hear its bright and shiny in the midwest right now which is just sacrilege. Rainy here and sunny there...figures. I suppose they are the ones I should feel for. Snow there, rain here...who knows when they get home! haha!
Anyway, off to beddie bye for now. I dearly love you all!! More later.....

2/3
Hey blogger followers!! I hope this one finds you warm, cozy, and not on the roads. Here, however, the sun shines brightly and the temp holds steady at a refreshing 62. Which is actually kinda funny that I say that as I look around this Starbucks and see most of the people here (self included) wearing jeans and sweatshirts....I bet all of you mid-westerners (self included) would be wearing shorts or at the very least capris.
I wasn't kidding when I was talking about THINKING you see movie stars EVERYWHERE here!! I've been here for about an hour now and my eyes have told me they have seen Taye Diggs and Paul McCartney. Also a kid I know from high school but..he's not famous....so many dopplegangers everywhere!! haha.
I thought of another addition to my "You know you are in in LA when.." blog. It is: You are asked for "spare change" a hundred times a day. Even yesterday, as I was sitting at a table inside a restaurant (with open garage-type doors and ceiling) a homeless man asked me (from outside) for spare change. To these people: HELL NO!! Between the 10% tax you charge here and the parking meters that seem to have a bottomless pit of a stomach for my spare change....NO, I have none left for you. I'm sorry!! lol. Thats awful, but true. I was just telling Brent yesterday, how I bet all these homeless people were PISSED when debit cards came out. The worst part is that you can never tell who its going to be either. This morning, this nicely dressed woman with a full length brown coat, scarf and hat, drinking a Diet Coke from a can asked me for some spare change....? I guess I just have that "helping hand; sweet, midwesterner" look on my face. Or..maybe its the Missouri license plate and the topper on our truck. haha. Who knows?!
Anyway, my days here are filled with thrifting, driving, walking, working out, cleaning, coffeeshopping for the internet and (the most unbelieveable) cooking. Oh, and more driving. Brent is jealous until I tell him what I actually did that day and sees that his supper is ready and his bed is made and then is happy again.
Oh, funny story. Last night on our way back up from the hot tub, Brent and I noticed our neighbor's keys were in her door. So, I rapped on the door to tell her and when she opened it, three dogs came RUNNING OUT! Then, because Brent had opened our door, Calvin came bounding out as well. So, these four dogs were in the hallway smelling butts and growling and being curious. Anyway, one of the dogs was a labradoodle puppy. ADORABLE!! We starting chatting and petting her dog and come to find out...she is a dog trainer!! She said the little labradoodle (Reginald) was up for adoption if we wanted him. HAha. I told her since we were travel nursing, probably not a great idea. But, (and I'm sorta unclear how this whole part went down, what with the happy hour Brent and I went to and the beer/wine we drank in the hot tub) but we ended up baby-sitting him for the evening for this young lady, so she could get some sleep. haha. He IS absolutely the cutest dog ever (next to Cal Pal) and so sweet. He IS NOT potty trained or name trained like she said. Atleast not with us. So, he ended up being taken outside 5 times more than Calvin's 1 time and peeing in our apartment 4 times more than Carly. haha. Anyway, in one of his unsuccessful outsidings, a nice couple came up and asked Brent "how much!!!" Not "how cute" or "for adoption?". "HOW MUCH!?" So, we got their info and passed it on to little Reginald's foster mommy. Good luck to them all!!
Anyway, off for now. I love you and miss you all dearly!!
